Hollywood actress Penelope Cruz has reportedly given birth to a baby boy. The actress was taken to the Cedars Sinai Medical Center few days back. The Spanish beauty has always remained very private about her personal things and she has maintained the same trend for the birth of her baby too.

Her husband Spanish actor Javier Bardem has been nominated for an Oscar in the ‘best actor’ category for his performance in the 2010 movie Biutiful. So it is a double celebration for the couple.

Penelope even kept the news of her pregnancy a secret until she was almost five months with the baby. The couple, who tied the knot last July in Bahamas, kept their relationship also a private affair. They first met on the set of the Spanish movie Jamon in 1992 but they started dating after 15 years in 2007.

On Wednesday, the spokeswoman of the actress informed about the birth of their baby boy. The New York publicist spokeswoman of Cruz said that the couple has welcomed their first son into the family. She informed that the mother and the baby are in good health now. She did not disclose about the place of birth of the baby but according to the Spanish media, the boy was born in a hospital in Los Angeles.

Penelope Cruz was terrified of singing in new film 'Nine'.

Speaking on the red carpet at the London premiere of the musical movie in Leicester Square last night (03.12.09), the 35-year-old Spanish actress admitted her singing was a bit rusty because she hadn't done it in public for years.

Singing was terrifying because it was new and because it was my first time.

The 35-year-old star told BANG Showbiz: "Singing was terrifying because it was new and because it was my first time.

"It was like doing theatre, but I only did theatre as a student in Spain."

Penelope - who plays seductress, Carla Albanese, who seduces Daniel Day-Lewis' character, director Guido Contini, in the film - also revealed her sexy look in the movie was aided by some very good costume designers.

She said: "The woman who designed the costumes for every one of us, I think she really must be one of the most amazing artists."

Penelope was joined on the red carpet by several of her co-stars, including Nicole Kidman, 42, Kate Hudson, 30, and Dame Judi Dench, 74.

Judi admitted she was surprised by how well all the actresses got along, saying: "They're wonderful, I mean every single one, I swear you're going to be surprised. They're going to surprise everyone."

Actress Penelope Cruz has admitted that she can't stop kissing Meryl Streep.

Speaking to her Nine co-star and fellow Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, the Spanish star said she thinks Meryl is the best there is.

"We only know each other from seeing each other at awards ceremonies or those kinds of events, but whenever I see her, I always go up to her and start kissing her," Penelope said in the latest issue of Interview Magazine.

She added: "I don’t even say anything - I just kiss her. She must think I’m some crazy person."

The Spanish stunner believes that Meryl is the best actress there is, reports The Daily Telegraph.

"There is nobody better," she said. "I watch her movies over and over again. I saw Silkwood again a couple of weeks ago, and it made me just want to kiss her feet."

Gay director Almodovar attracted to Penelope Cruz

Well-known Spanish director Pedro Almodovar, who is a gay, says he got attracted to his muse Penelope Cruz with whom he has done films like "Volver" and "All About My Mother".

Almodovar admitted that he was intensely attracted to Cruz while filming his latest film "Broken Embraces", a concept he also included in the plot, reported contactmusic.com.

"Out of all the actresses I have worked with, Penelope really has been the one who has caused a sense of desire in me beyond the sensuality of a film shoot," he said.

"Normally, as a director, you engage with your leading lady on an extremely emotional level, and there is everything but sex. But it is true that with Penelope it is different. She has caused me sexual desire," he added.
